Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with the creative team to understand project requirements
• Translate conceptual designs into production-ready artwork
• Execute and refine design concepts to produce market-ready print and digital assets
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines
• Conduct thorough quality checks on artwork, including image and colour corrections
• Handle file optimizations and prepress preparations
• Implement efficient production processes and workflows
• Streamline design deliverables and meet project timelines

Qualifications:

• Amazing portfolio showcasing multiple types of projects and solutions
• Digital and print samples with 2+ years of professional experience in a graphic design role
• Expertise across the Creative Suite mainstays (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
• Familiarity with applications such as After Effects, Premiere or Resolve, Figma, Keynote/Powerpoint, Word, and Canva

Key Responsibilities:

• Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with clients, acting as the primary point of contact
• Project Coordination: Assist in the planning, execution, and delivery of creative projects, ensuring they meet client objectives and deadlines
• Creative Collaboration: Work closely with our creative and production teams to translate client needs into creative briefs and ensure the vision for the project is executed effectively
• Budget and Timeline Management: Help manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope
• Strategic Insights: Gather and analyze market and industry data to provide clients with valuable insights and recommendations for their campaigns
• Reporting: Prepare and deliver regular progress reports to clients outlining project status, performance metrics, and recommended optimizations

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, business, or a related field (not required, but considered an asset)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A passion for creative advertising and marketing
• Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities
• Proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools is a plus

About the Job:

We know you know what an Art Director is, but just so there's no confusion, responsibilities in this role include:

• Working closely with Chess Club's account managers, strategists, copywriters, and other designers
• Understanding what drives our clients to get up in the morning, their strategic positioning, and who their target audience is
• Delivering big, beautiful conceptual ideas at a campaign level across digital, video, and traditional print channels
• Storyboarding to help sell those ideas
• Leading creative client presentations of internally approved concepts
• Taking those concepts and turning them into fully realized work
• Staying on top of creative trends, competitive work, and industry best practices

In a perfect world, you'd come work with us in Chess Club's beautiful office in the heart of Saskatoon. We know once you have a chance to hang out here, you'll love it, but we're open to different arrangements if needed, including remote work—as long as you live in Canada and are willing to work when we do.

About You:

You love design? Cool. Are you any good at it? Here are a few things you should be able to say "yes" to:

• Do you have about five years (or more) of experience in branding, advertising, and/or visual communications?
• Can you think in campaigns and fire off ideas that spark curiosity?
• Can you collaborate and contribute to a team, problem solve on the fly, and meet tight deadlines without crying too much?
• You know how to use InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and XD, right?
• Have you played around with programs like After Effects, Premiere, Resolve, and Figma?
• Are you the type to drool over type?
